Perched on the banks of Lake Wakatipu and with panoramic views of the Cecil and Walter Peak mountain ranges, Matakauri Lodge offers you the chance to appreciate awe-inspiring alpine vistas from a serene, luxurious hideaway.

With just 11 guest suites Matakauri Lodge is an intimate natural haven. Three suites are located within the lodge, with eight outlying cottages. For a supremely secluded stay we recommend booking one of the three suites nestled in nearby woodland. All suites boast a private porch, open fireplace and walk in wardrobe. Rooms are also equipped with flat screen LCD televisions, DVD and CD players and iPod connection dock. With spectacular views from the bathtub and floor to ceiling glass windows you may find that the television is superfluous!

The crisp, refreshing mountain air is reflected in the clean flavours of the gourmet cuisine. The menu changes daily and showcases only the very best local ingredients, from farm-raised lamb to organic vegetables and fresh seafood. Pre-dinner drinks are complimentary and allow you to both mingle with fellow guests and sample exquisite New Zealand wines from the distinguished wine cellar. For a more exclusive culinary experience, take advantage of the lodge's private dining option.

Whether you want to recharge your batteries or expel some energy Matakauri Lodge is the perfect natural setting. With fly-fishing, golf and wilderness safaris on offer, there are plenty of memorable expeditions to be had.
