Hotel de Rome
Constructed in 1889 in Italian High Renaissance style, Berlins Hotel de Rome was formerly the head office of Dresdner Bank. The grand, awe-inspiring building now houses one of Berlins most opulent hotels, fusing classical style with contemporary features.
The hotels 146 rooms feature elegant high ceilings and antique details. It is not unheard of to find old literary classics nestled on bookcases. Bathrooms boast walk-in showers, under-floor heating and mosaic marbled interiors. For a true step back in time we recommend booking the Opera Suite, in which damage from the Second World War is evident in the oak panelling. However, modern day Berlin can be marvelled at from your bathtub and the full length terrace overlooking the Bebelplatz.
For rooftop views and a flute of champagne there can be no better destination in Berlin than the hotels Roof Terrace. Al fresco dining is divine in summer, whilst winter meals are better consumed in Parioli, a refined restaurant serving light Italian and Mediterranean dishes.
For the ultimate lavish experience a visit to the Spa de Rome within the hotel is a must. Originally a jewel vault, the spa is adorned with golden mosaics and black marble tiling, and treatments offered are equally lavish. Unwind with a "four hand massage performed by two expert masseuses, or for a nourishing whole body experience and Lomi-style massage book the "Tropical Hawaiian Essence. Nothing is too much trouble for the hotel concierge, with in demand tickets and museum passes acquired seemingly effortlessly.
25 minutes by car from Tegel Airport.
