Shamwari Game Reserve
The privately owned Shamwari Game Reserve is set in 25,000 hectares of prime wildlife terrain in the malaria free Eastern Cape province of South Africa. Home to Africa's Big 5, Shamwari boasts the largest concentration of wildlife in the Eastern and Southern Cape.
Luxury safari accommodation is offered in 7 different lodges on this private game reserve. Guests can choose from a luxury tented camp to a restored Victorian homestead; a Classical African thatched lodge to a distinctive Colonial manor. Three of the lodges are particularly family friendly.
Game drives can last up to 3 hours each and are conducted twice a day in open vehicles that have been especially converted to maximise comfort and viewing potential. A personal game ranger will provide insightful and valuable information about the fauna and flora.
In between game drives guests at Shamwari can indulge in a spa treatment, relax and swim, enjoy delicious cuisine, a game walk, star gazing or a visit to one of the two Born Free Big Cat Sanctuarys. Families are welcome and Shamwari can offer a truly unique, educational and fun family safari experience.
