Young Island

Young Island is located offshore from St. Vincent in the Eastern Caribbean.Imagine Eden, a lush oasis abundant with tropical flowers, birds, and fish. Add crystal blue waters, warm sunshine, and superb cuisine and you begin to understand this private island paradise. At Young Island they pride themselves on exemplary service and attention to detail.

Twenty-nine Guest Cottages nestle into the landscape.King-bedded cottages are to be found nearest the beach and shoreline, or low on the hillside. Although mostly free standing, some Superior Cottages can interconnect to accommodate families. Two cottages (#6 and #10) are beach-side and three cottages (#28, #29, #30) are hillside with broad views. All these accommodations are cottage stylewith sea view, open-air garden shower and private patio. The Duvernette Suite is a two-bedroom hillside cottage with spacious separate living and dining areas, all fully air-conditioned. The cottage is situated at the top of Young Island with incredible views of the sea, Fort Duvernette, St. Vincent and Bequia.

There are a number of entertainment areas, including the Coconut Bar.During the day, when the sun and fun make you thirsty, swim over to the Cocunut Bar and enjoy the special 'Caribbean' drinks made with rum, coconut rum, coconut milk, and coffee liqueur. In the evening, head to the Captain Bligh Lounge and Bar, for your 'sundowner' cocktails, or a cool refreshing beer as this is the place to start your evening at Young Island.

Seriously good food awaits you at Young Island. The eclectic choices range from continental to true regional Caribbean Cuisine with the menu changing regularly. There are a number of delightful dining kiosks can be set for romantic tables for two or even larger parties for a private dinner. The kiosks are in a beautiful setting by the beach and surrounded by tropical gardens. The scent of evening jasmine and fine cuisine is quite lovely, quite seductive.

Young Island Resort owns and operates two 44-foot sailing yachts. Each crewed yacht includes two guest quarters used while on "Sailaway, the resort's option of spending nights at sea. Day-excursions are also easily arranged aboard the yachts through the front desk.

There are two marked trails starting near the top of Buccament Valley. They lead through virgin tropical rain forests where there is a good chance of seeing (or hearing) the St. Vincent Parrot (Amazons Guilding ii) and the Whistling Warbler, both unique to St. Vincent.

An eight minute drive from St Vincent Airport to Young Island dock plus a three minute ferry ride to the island.

Take a trip to Trinity Falls (Petit Walllibou Falls), where stunning triple cascades of warm crystal clear water fall 40 feet into a basin of volcanic rock, then gush over an encircling rim to another pool ten feet below to form a Jacuzzi pool.

St. Vincent Kingstown has twelve small blocks that are easy to walk and perfect for browsing. St. Vincent Craft Centre is a market outlet and craft shop, this center has a wide variety of handicraft items showing the essential character and talent of the local people.Market days are Friday and Saturday. This market is a spectacularly colourful display of fresh fruits, vegetables, meats and fish. Plan to get there before 10.00 am so you can see it at its best.
