Chateau de la Chevre d'Or

Perched against the sundrenched rock of Eze, the Chateau de la Chevre d'Or occupies one of the most enviable spots in the region, utterly breathtaking even by the standards of the French Riviera.

The 30 rooms and 7 suites of this iconic Relais & Chateaux Hotel are individually designed and scattered through manicured terraced gardens. Some of the accommodation is accessed from the romantic ancient alleys of the medieval village itself. Situated 235m above the Mediterranean, the panorama from the terraces and balconies of most rooms and suites is spectacular. The Presidential Suite has its own infinity pool, other suites are named after Barlow, Nietzsche & Cocteau, all of them connected to the Chevre d'Or during their lifetime.

The Gourmet restaurant, overseen by chef Fabrice Vulin, with its two Michelin stars is a culinary Mecca, and a destination in its own right for serious 'foodies'. Expect the finest French cuisine based on the wealth of regional produce. The wine list reads like the who's-who of best bins in France and the world over with exclusive local producers a speciality. An evening at the Chevre d'Or invariably starts and ends in the sumptuous bar or the panoramic terrace - unforgettable! Elsewhere in the hotel the hugely popular Eden Restaurant in the ramparts serves Mediterranean inspired dishes on summer evenings and the Cafe du Jardin offers snacks and refreshments throughout the day.

Days are spent browsing through the well stocked boutiques of Eze Village, visit the historic perfume shop Gallimard or Fragonard; enjoy an Indian massage or work out in the hotel's gym; laze by the pool and absorb the inimitable beauty of the Chevre d'Or. External activities include visits to nearby Monaco, Nice or Beaulieu; helicopter and boat rides along the Cote d'Azur or a day excursion in a Ferrari.

30 minutes by car from Nice airport.
