The Opposite House
The Opposite House is located in The Village at Sanlitun-a vibrant new open-plan shopping, dining and entertainment destination developed by Swire Properties. The hotel's 99 guest studios, including 9 spacious suites and a penthouse duplex with a 240sqm roof terrace, are amongst the largest in Beijing. More than half of all the studios are over 70 sqm and all are strikingly simple with natural wooden floors and subtle touches of Chinese decor. The House is also home to an intoxicating blend of restaurant and bars. Stop by Mesh for a drink to wind down after work, reserve a table at buzzing Sureno, the innovative contemporary Asian restaurant Bei or the eclectic Village Cafe. While the night is young, prepare to pick up the beat at Punk and groove to the latest DJ sets as renown local and international DJs rock the deck. The Opposite House's six-storey high atrium is also home to a permanent collection of contemporary Chinese art with rotating exhibits every three months. Celebrity sightings are not uncommon as the trendy and well-heeled come to dine in the restaurants and bars. The name, The Opposite House, is derived from a Chinese translation which historically described the building located opposite the main house in a courtyard where esteemed guests would stay. The name also reflects the hotel's southern location within the courtyard design of The Village at Sanlitun and highlights Sanlitun as a district of diversity and opposites-of tradition and modernity.
