Bauer Il Palazzo

Located in the heart of Venice and overlooking Venice's Grand Canal, Bauer Il Palazzo was originally the home of an 18th Century nobleman. The hotel's stunning Gothic facade, silk walls and opulent decor ensure that none of this period property's former nobility has been lost. With two exclusive entrances, you can choose to arrive by water at the hotel's private jetty or on foot through a sequestered doorway on the Calletta dei XIII Martiri.

Each of the hotel's 44 guest rooms and 38 suites are individually decorated with Chinese vases, antique tapestries and Murano glass chandeliers. Italian marble bathrooms and walk-in wardrobes add further grandeur to the accommodation, whilst many rooms boast private balconies and Jacuzzis. For panoramic views of the city's rooftops and lagoon we recommend booking a suite on the sixth or seventh floor. For true immersion in luxury and history, reserve the Royal Suite, once the principal reception rooms of the palazzo. Original stuccos by Renaissance master craftsmen, Venetian mirrors and prestigious artwork speak of the suites illustrious past, whilst a pillow menu, private chef and private concierge adds modern polish.

The cuisine at the hotel's De Pisis restaurant reflects the palazzo's interior design: Italian with a dash of Asian influence. Don't miss the chance to dine on the terrace and watch the gondolas go by. For a sumptuous breakfast with superb views head to Settimo Cielo on the seventh floor.

Bauer Il Palazzo's enviable situation just minutes from St Marks Square allows you to access Venices wealth of shops, museums and galleries from your doorstep. Why not ask the concierge to arrange a private boat for you to explore the citys intricate canals? Dont forget to stop for an espresso in one of the city's baroque cafes.
