Amantaka

Set on an airy and elegant garden estate just south of Mount Phousi in the centre of the picturesque Luang Prabang Peninsula, Amantaka takes its name from the words ‘peace’ and ‘the teaching of Buddha’. Explore the history and culture influenced by Theravada Buddhism and see the jungle and hills outside the city come alive with trickling waterfalls and ancient ruins.

The resort is built in a lofty French colonial-style with pavilions encircling a spacious courtyard. Amantaka offers 24 suites in varying sizes, all with their own private verandas and king-size beds. In addition, the Khan Pool Suites feature a private pool from which overlooks the blossoming gardens, perfect for when you want to relax body and mind. The Mekong Pool Suites, named after the river flowing through Luang Prabang, and the Amantaka Suite holds private relaxation and lounging areas.

Amantaka offers delicious culinary experiences in a number of dining venues; The Dining Room hints to Luang Prabang’s colonial heritage, serving delicious authentic Lao and French-influenced cuisine whilst the Lounge Bar is perfect for enjoying a light aperitif. The Pool Terrace serves a mouth-watering selection of meals all day and private dining can be set up around the breezy garden as well as in the privacy of your own suite.

Discover the unique culture of Luang Prabang through the selection of activities on offer. Spend a day at the Kuang Si waterfall, where you can see the water tumble 100 meters into glittering turquoise pools and finish off at the nearby Bear Sanctuary where you can feed the extinct Asiatic Black Bear. To further immerse in the culinary experiences of the area, take a cooking class on a nearby organic farm where you will learn how to make your own Laotian feast! To fully rejuvenate body and mind, go down to the Spa where Amantaka’s therapists will offer a tailor-made treatment with the oil blends and body wraps of your choice.
