Samara Private Game Reserve
Samara Private Game Reserve is situated in the malaria-free Eastern Cape, on one of the largest private reserves in South Africa - 70,000 acres nestled between an amphitheatre of mountains.
Elegant lodges provide luxury accommodation. Karoo Lodge is a lovingly restored colonial homestead and offers space for up to 12 people in 6 suites, either on an individual or an exclusive basis. The luxurious, exclusive use Manor at Samara is perfect for a family or small group, with space for up to 8 people in 4 luxury suites. The wild and remote Mountain Retreat has five bedrooms for exclusive use; for families and groups who value privacy, enjoy being close to nature and wish to experience a slower pace of life.
Samara contains four of South Africa's recognised Biomes (Thicket, Savanna, Grassland and Nama Karoo). This diversity allows a wide variety of flora and fauna to thrive and Samara is privileged to be home to the highly endangered cheetah. You can also hope to view buffalo, wildebeest, white Rhino, Cape Mountain zebra, herds of antelope and giraffe either from the comfort of an open game viewer or on foot, trekking through the fragrant Karoo bush . Samara's inspiring conservation projects ensure every effort is being made to preserve global biodiversity in this unique environment.
Samara's Aardvark programme especially caters for children, taking them on adventure safaris, providing private dinners and hosting young children at the lodge, allowing parents to take game drives without interruption from tired small people!
