Cocoa Island
A boutique
resort offering understated elegance, personalised service and an easy-going,
"feet-in-the-sand experience.
Cocoa Islands 33 suites and villas are all set over water and uniquely built
in the style of traditional Maldivian "dhoni" (fishing) boats. Interiors are simply
furnished in a contemporary style. Wake up to an empty horizon through the
floor to ceiling windows; relax on your private deck and watch the marine life
glide by or step directly into the clear sea and snorkel.
The restaurant is a relaxed, feet-in-the-sand space, serving a variety of
mouth-watering European, Indian and Sri Lankan cuisine with an emphasis on locally caught
seafood and fresh produce. Alternatively you can enjoy a private dinner on your terrace, or in a silent space
on the sands - lit by candlelight, under a simple tent, with the water lapping
at your toes.
One end of this tiny island is dedicated to tranquillity and wellness, with an
open yoga pavilion, fitness centre and hydrotherapy pool. Treatments at the COMO
Shambhala Retreat follow a holistic approach and are truly heavenly. The diving
is exceptional and the Cocoa Island team are happy to teach beginners and
challenge the experienced. You can also go deep-sea fishing and partake in
watersports off the beach, like windsurfing or catamaran sailing.
40
minutes by speedboat from Male International Airport.
