Clayoquot

The Wilderness Outpost is located on Bedwell River, at the mouth of the Pacific Ocean, close to Strathcona Provincial Park, 9 km (5.5 miles) by boat from Quait Bay and about 45 minutes from Tofino. This 21st-century-safari style enclave offers ultra luxurious sleeping and dining tents for two to twenty guests. A windmill-powered generator provides air conditioning power and hot and cold running water to showers and sinks. Guest quarters are roomy prospector style canvas tents on raised wooden platforms with remote-controlled propane woodstoves, handmade Adirondack furniture, queen size beds with down duvets, period accessories, oil lamps, opulent carpets, netting, and generous porches overlooking the river and Bedwell Sound. Cedar boardwalks link discreetly situated guest tents - each with its own hitching post and firepit - to the large dining tent, kitchen tent, roundhouse, shower and washroom facilities. Plush robes and towels, aroma-therapeutic amenities and more, provide every comfort. Dining is excellent at the Outpost and parallels the word-class cuisine of the floating resort at Quait Bay, with gourmet food, fine wine, china and crystal. An outdoor wood-fired hot tub is available as well as massage services. Outpost activities include sailing, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, day and overnight treks, fresh water and ocean fishing, whale-watching, bear-watching and day trips (to Hot Springs Cove Provincial Park and Walk The Wild Side Interpretive Trail on Flores Island). The main activity remains horseback riding, with hundreds of kilometres of trails and abandoned logging roads to explore (horses are assigned for the duration of your stay).
