A trip to L'Alpaga

Nestled in the heart of Megève, L’Alpaga is a luxurious getaway like no other and I was the lucky one to be able to visit! Walking through the serene L’Alpaga, you cannot help but feel like you have finally stumbled across a magical winter wonderland with its beautiful views of the snow-capped peaks of Mont Blanc and its quaint buildings.

The intimate property has 27 guest rooms and suites as well as another five chalets located in the hotel grounds and is perfect for an alpine escape, be it ‘ avec en famille’ or as a couple. I was lucky enough to stay in one of the beautiful on site chalets; with its glorious Alpine views, it was the perfect bolt-hole following a day exploring the picturesque town of Megève.

Whilst the temperatures might be cold, you can guarantee to feel warm in the outdoor hot tub which has breath-taking views onto Mont Blanc, or retreat to one of the hotels’ ‘Classic Rooms’, perfect for a your and partner, with sumptuous fur throws and your own private balcony! Here you truly feel as though you are hidden away in your own luxurious cabin of cosiness and comfort....

For larger families – there are four ‘The Alpaga Collection’ chalets providing idyllic accommodation dotted around Megève town. Here I found myself spellbound by each chalet’s unique characteristics, one of a kind artworks and warm open log fires which would be the perfect place to relax after a long day on the slopes.

If you fancy escaping to somewhere mystical and mesmerising for New Year’s Eve, you need look no further than Chalet Katchina, with its spacious living area, five double bedrooms and incredible artworks adorning the walls.

L’Alpaga offers two sumptuous dining options, La Table de l’Alpaga and L’Onyx. My first meal at the one Michelin starred ‘La Table’ was exquisite; with ingredients hand-picked by Chef Christophe Schuffenecker, it was evident that each hand-crafted dish was a labour of love, fusing local ingredients with gastronomic expertise. Being a self-confessed foodie, I did not think it was possible to top my meal at La Table but the delicious cuisine at bistro-style L’Onyx proved me wrong. The food was ideal for a quick refuel before exploring the Alps and a great place to end your day with a night cap.

This hidden gem of a hotel is perfect for either families and couples be it for a short but sweet weekend or more. I highly recommend this property and thoroughly enjoyed my experience here. Now I just need to organise my return visit!
