Zermatt's delights

11/02/2016

Arriving into Zermatt by train is beautiful and we would recommend this to be the most relaxing and enjoyable way to get there, however being a few hours’ from Geneva, we would recommend spending more than a weekend there.

Zermatt’s location beneath the Matterhorn makes it an iconic and stunning resort to ski. Being a car free resort adds to it’s charm and gives it a real alpine feel.

Chalet Shalimar

This charming 10 bedroom chalet is ideal for large groups or families. The alpine and timber décor provides a relaxed, homely atmosphere where you can sit back and enjoy the views of the Matterhorn.
I loved how informal and comfortable this chalet was and the service was also fantastic.
QT Tip: Make sure you book the Michelin restaurants on the pistes in advance for lunch in high season!

A new development for 2016, consisting of 7 chalets in the heart of the village. Although it was still undergoing construction when I visited, I could tell that 7 heavens will certainly live up to its name, with personalised alpine furnishings and authentic high wood beamed ceilings to create the ultimate alpine residence.
Complete with a private spa, a cinema room and kids playroom, this is a very special new development.
QT Tip: Perfect for ski lovers as you are 5 minutes from the funicular.
